Inpatient Dual Diagnosis Program

For adults who struggle with co-occurring chemical dependency and mental health issues, the Center for Dual Treatment at Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center offers acute treatment services designed to address both conditions. The inpatient dual diagnosis program aims to help patients achieve stability so they can return to the community or transition to less intensive treatment.

The program is intended to treat acute withdrawal symptoms, strengthen internal and external support systems and provide a basic understanding of underlying psychopathology and addictive components. We provide a secure environment to stabilize and treat withdrawal and dual diagnosis issues while preparing the patient for the recovery process.

Patients leaving this program can continue recovery by transitioning to a day treatment. For people with severe withdrawal symptoms, our detoxification program may be needed before they may benefit from other treatment options. A no-cost assessment helps us decide the appropriate level of care for a patient.
